Sloth Care Oracle
We live in a world where we are continuously contactable, where taking a few hours off to relax is seen as a bad thing.
I have been guilty of putting everyone else before myself for years (and still am kinda regularly). In my defense, I have a job and a son, I write tarot and oracle decks for indie creators and maintain social media for one of the publishers I work for. Plus my husband has been seriously ill, my parents have both battled cancer, and COVID added home-schooling into the mix, so it was unsurprising that I developed high blood pressure.
In our 247 world, I, we, all need to relax, at least some times - our health and wellbeing benefit when we spend some time doing nothing. Slowing down helps us to prevent getting burnt out, or getting sick.
There's a reason it's called disease....the absence of ease contributes to us getting ill!
Even at my busiest, I knew I needed to slow down, but I had so much to do that it made me feel lazy. And I started asking myself why laziness was wrong.
I realised I needed to learn how to relax. I started to write myself messages to help me...and as I did so, I realised, the world doesn't just need self-care...we need sloth care.
We need to slow down. Sometimes we need to stop, and sometimes we need to move, and sometimes we need to take really slow steps...and to know that it is all good!
I created the Sloth Care Oracle to remind us that it’s more important to take care of ourselves than to race through life. And I wanted every user of the Sloth Care Oracle to become a part of it. So alongside some really important messages, delivered by a lovely sloth, illustrated by my friend, Joanna Nelson, I created a guidebook with a section for you to add your own notes, your own sloth care activities and write yourself into the deck...
